How many times have you bought a single skein of yarn because it was pretty, or it called to you, or it was a special release from a favorite dyer, or … any other reason at all? I’ve got a stash full of yarn like that. Here’s a chance to use it.

This is a crescent shaped shawl, worked from the bottom up. The bottom edge is a beaded lace pattern. The body is stockinette short rows that are super simple - no wraps to worry about.

I love the idea of little flames spreading out into the world, rippling out to touch others in ways we may never know. I think that if everyone would just try to send something good from themselves out daily, the world would be a nicer place.

Serial Digital Communication channels are all around us – Ethernet, WiFi, and USB are just a few of them. If you look at one of these channels on an oscilloscope, you’ll see images called “eye patterns”.

Collaboration with Dye2Spin for Dallas LeakyCon 2019, inspired by Fawkes the Phoenix
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This light lace wrap is as versatile to wear as it is to knit. Personalize it by deciding how many pattern rows to work, when to change colors, and how wide and long you would like it to be. Keep working until you run out of yarn to make the most of a special skein.

Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
Because sometimes we’re just a little off-axis, right? These mitts are not quite circular and just tilted enough to get the stripes going at a slant. For those days when we don’t want to conform.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Hometown Shawls pattern #1 - in tribute to the communities that have shaped my family.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
This easy slouchy hat is designed to show off the Weird Sisters colorways from MJ Yarns. The colors of the yarn will swirl and drift through the body of the hat like the vapors off of a witch’s cauldron. Each finished hat will be a one of a kind creation, since each skein of this hand dyed yarn is unique, and every knitter’s gauge is a little d...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This is my take on Vincent’s vision of the TARDIS. (You Whovians know what I’m talking about.) It is worked in short rows from one long edge to the other with a feather and fan edging. The body is an asymmetrical triangle, and the rippled edge tends to expand outward after blocking.
Knitting: Cowl
Two colors, inverted patterns, and a little Fibonacci thrown in for good measure. This cowl is good for stash busting, quick gifts or zen knitting.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This pattern speaks to the programmer and hardware designer in me. So often, small changes in the inputs can have a big impact on outputs, even though the process remains the same. I approach knitting design the same way, and found myself liking all the outputs of this algorithm so much, I wanted to write them all down.
Knitting: Scarf
Go crazy with this one, y’all! Mix and match colors to find your groove. Pair up a solid fingering weight yarn with the wildest variegated laceweight you can find and see what comes up.
Crochet: Scarf
This reversible scarf is just the right size to keep your neck and chest warm on surprisingly nippy mornings on the Gulf Coast. It is the perfect beginner crochet project.

Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Sometimes inspiration hits unexpectedly, and you just have to be ready for it. After all, a yarn named “King Cake” must be used in a New Orleans themed project, right? And the Crescent City demands a shawl with the same shape.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap, Scarf
Light, lacy and infinitely resizable. Designed for highly variegated yarns, but suitable for solids, semi-solids and striping yarns as well. A lovely companion to the triangular Raising Cane.
Knitting: Cowl
The Art Lesson Cowl is an experiment in colors using self-striping yarn. Select yarn with boldly contrasting colors to create a piece of abstract art, or more subtle changes for an Impressionist piece. Either way, short rows in the body bend the colors into interesting shapes.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Palo Duro is a crescent shaped shawl worked from the bottom up. It has a garter eyelet edging on the bottom and top edges. The body is worked in stockinette stitch with short rows that curve the edges of the shawl and distort the stripes. The loose gauge results in a drapey, light shawl.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Have you ever seen a sugar cane field after the harvest? The rows stretch away towards the horizon, and broken stalks are scattered between them in jumbled piles.
Knitting: Scarf
This reversible scarf is just the right size to keep your neck and chest warm as you tend your flock. It is a perfect beginner project because it works up quickly in a simple pattern of knits and purls.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
A generous snuggly wrap for those cold mornings in the stable or a light, frilly accessory for an evening at the honky-tonk. Either way you’ll be the envy of the Rodeo when you show off this shawl.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
Who says cowgirls can’t get gussied up now and then? Here’s the perfect accessory for a little honky-tonking after the Rodeo. Knit in the round from the cuff up, this mitt features a clever bind-off that creates finger holes as you go.

Either shape can be edged with a ruffle (worked in short rows as you go) or a crocheted chain edging (added after t...

Do I have enough yarn for this shawl? What weight do I need? I don’t know (IDK) but that’s all right! Just grab some yarn that’s begging to be knit, cast on at the center top and don’t stop until you’re ready to, or until you are almost out of yarn. Then bind off, block and enjoy.
Knitting: Cowl
Swing your partner! Do-si-do! Knit it up quick and loop it around your neck. This cowl is quick and easy, knit in the round, and uses less than a skein of worsted weight yarn. It can be your stash buster, a piece for a small amount of luxury yarn, or a fun way to learn to use charts.
Knitting: Cowl
This pattern is dedicated to my Papaw, who loved the Smokies more than anyone else I know.

This light, airy rectangular stole looks like it has been tie dyed. Colors ripple through the fabric like the edge of a grassy meadow or sunset over the ocean. You’ll love the drape of the finished fabric. Work in two highly contrasting solid colors for a bold look, or two closer shades for a more subtle effect.

Evoking images of Japanese fabric, this light, airy rectangular stole looks like it has been tie dyed. You’ll love the drape of the finished fabric. Work in with solid colors for a high-contrast Arashi Shibori look, or with variegated yarns for a more subtle effect.

This lacy wrap is knit on a bias, so it has a slight parallelogram shape. It’s the perfect accessory to a sundress or tank in the summer or for a light wrap in the fall and spring.

This is a traditional triangular shawl, worked from the center out in a pattern that resembles large and small flames. It was inspired by Mary Chapin Carpenter’s song “A Keeper for Every Flame”.
