Knitting: Cowl
An essential winter item, this easy cowl knits up quickly and can be made using a variety of different thickness of yarn. It’s entirely up to you how you choose to make it, there is no tension gauge to worry about and you can even use a combo of yarns held together as I did for a more textural feel.
Knitting: Pullover
This simple long line sweater is made in the round using circular needles and has a circular yoke and funnel neck. A good first project for knitting a bottom up circular sweater. A chunky weight yarn is used and it knits up very quickly. I used Rowan’s Colourscape in Shade 436 Northern Lights but any chunky weight yarn or thick aran would be su...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
My cousin recently came to stay and admired some of lace shawls but as she hadn’t knitted for over 30 years she wanted something easy to get her into knitting again. This rectangular shawl comes in 3 versions.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
For my second Half Pi Shawl I used a locally produced yarn from Pembrokeshire Alpacas who are based in Solva and dyed it in a vibrant seaweed green. This yarn is classed by the producers as a 2-ply light DK but its more like a sport weight but really but any yarn could be used for this project from laceweight upwards so it is very versatile. I ...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
I’m a great fan of Elizabeth Zimmerman and I love her Pi shawls, such a simple concept but they take an age to knit with so many stitches and I hate circular needles so I wanted something that would knit up a bit quicker and after a bit of research I found a way of knitting a semi-circular shawl which I adapted to suit me and this is the result...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This wonderfully simple rectangular shawl is a great stash buster and was made as a Christmas present for my friend Linda Sillence. It was knitted with two strands of yarn held together for the centre panel, for mine I chose one strand of my Superwash Blue Faced Leicester DK and one strand of my Twinkletoes Sock in a complementary colour to giv...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap, Scarf
I needed a nice rectangular evening wrap to go with my party frock for my DH’s Xmas Party. I needed it quick – so this is what I came up with. The stitchwork I used is based on two traditional Estonian patterns patterns knitted in a rectangular format in two pieces and grafted together.
Knitting: Scarf
I made this wide rectangular scarf as a present for my sister in law. It used two of my favourite Estonian stitch patterns combined together.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This simple shoulder shawl knits up quickly and has a wonderful Birds Eye and Double Fagotted lace edging. It can be worn in a variety of ways making it a versatile winter accessory and was made using my Wicked Sock yarn which has a content of 50% Merino and 50% Silk which makes it light and extremely warm. However any sockweight yarn would be ...
Knitting: Scarf
This simple but effective scarf pattern uses two pattern stitches and is knit lengthways.
Knitting: Cardigan
Another design for my new niece, this delightful Baby Kimono is a joy to make. It features Oriel Lace Pattern at the lower edges and is knitted in one piece in the body and the sleeves are added after using double pointed needles and knit in the round so there are no joins. It is a one size garment but if you want a larger size garment for a bi...

ERRATA: 24.9.11 - its come to light that I’ve said all wrong side rows are knit rows unless otherwise stated. Please read PURL IN THIS INSTANCE. I will post a new copy of the pattern when I return from hols around 30th Sept, 2011. Thank you!
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This is a reworking of my original Bird of Paradise Pattern also freely available here on Rav which uses laceweight wool following quite a few requests. It uses a smaller needle and is not as long as the original but once blocked it is still long enough to wear as a scarf if you wish.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
My first neice Charlotte was born late November last year so I made this for Faye my sister in law. We took them Solva Wollen Mill whilst they were staying with us and Faye liked the look of some handmade scarves and their stitchwork so when we got back home, I dyed the wool for her whilst she looked on and she picked out a selection of colours...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This delightfully simple neck/shoulder shawl will certainly get your talked about for all the right reasons. It is an extremely versatile fashion accessory and can be worn in a number of ways but not only that it is simple to make, the adapted Cockleshell Lace border is easier than it looks.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This Shawlette is so named because I made it over a weekend, starting late Friday afternoon and completing it on Sunday afternoon! It is knitted on 4.5 mm needles using 4 ply/sockweight yarn – the colour here is my Hippy Chick a rainbow coloured yarn. The lace pattern stitchwork is loosely based on some of the shapes used in Estonian Lacework. ...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This beautiful triangular neck shawl is based on branching willows as they dip down into the river on a hot summer’s day. It is knitted from the top down and the edging is added on after without the need to cast off. Here I used Aade Long Villa from Estonia that I purchased in rainbow long stripes – long stripes being something I cannot produce...
Knitting: Scarf
I love to wear big scarves to keep the cold of the winter out. This one is made from my Lafonia Sock – a 100% British Falkland Island Merino High Spun wool which is beautifully soft, not to prone to “pilling” because of how it has been spun and has a wonderful drape which is held in place by the garter stitch edgings. The colour here is Novembe...
Knitting: Scarf
This lovely textured scarf using a variation of easy stitches is a great stash buster and knits up really quick. It is knitted on large 8mm circular needles and you can use a combination of yarn weights from sockweight to bulky by knitting a variety of strands together, which I advise on in the pattern and the way it is knitted causes it to “wa...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This pattern is loosely based on some Victorian stitchwork but I amended the leaf pattern. The leaf pattern is an easy repeat once set and the Narrow Point edging looks a lot harder to do than it actually is. The yarn I used is to make mine was a Cotswold Rear Breeds 4 ply but as I no longer stock this yarn, any of my 4 ply sock yarns would be ...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This Baktus is a one x 100 gram skein project. It is suitable for use with any Woolhunter Sock Yarns of 400 metres or more in length.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This pattern is so named because it was knitted whilst I having a sojourn in the local hospital which is called Withybush. I couldn’t think of any other pattern to do whilst I was hooked up to the goodies of intra-venal antibiotiics so good old feather and fan pattern came to mind. It kept my mind on the job of getting better!
