Pi in the Sky II - Seaweed & Sand
For my second Half Pi Shawl I used a locally produced yarn from Pembrokeshire Alpacas who are based in Solva and dyed it in a vibrant seaweed green. This yarn is classed by the producers as a 2-ply light DK but its more like a sport weight but really but any yarn could be used for this project from laceweight upwards so it is very versatile. I designed the lace patterning to represent the coastal flora and fauna that we have here in abundance, many of our local beaches are Sites of Special Scientific Interest and have their own unique species.
I used 100 grams x 350 metres of the lightweight DK yarn mentioned however the choice is yours as to which yarn you use, as this pattern will easily adapt and will knit well with both sockweight and lace weight yarns (although you may have to adjust the metreage up or down depending on the weight of the yarn).
