This is a traditional Shetland Lace hap (shawl) made in the 9 section method.

This stole is a fine Shetland lace version of my Roerwater Hap. It uses the same motifs and patterns but on a knitted lace base. This is when there is no rest row and is patterned on each row.
Knitting: Hanging Ornament
These little Shetland Lace Flags were created for my class at Shetland Wool Week 2024.

Knitting: Cowl
In Shetland lace knitting the candlelight pattern is usually knitted on a garter base but in this cowl it is made on a stocking stitch base. Once the cowl was finished I did not blocked it as I loved the texture of the unblocked pattern. It can be blocked if you wish but this would make the finished size bigger.
Knitting: Cowl
This cowl was inspired by my Granny’s trees which she planted near the burn. In Shetland there are not many trees but you will see the pattern of the tree in so many items made with Shetland lace.

My Turvie shawl is named after the hill in Shetland which is located behind the house that both my granny and my mother was born in. It is in a beautiful place called Sandvoe.
Knitting: Scarf
I wanted to design a lace scarf which introduced people to Shetland lace and the inspiration came from where I grew up in Shetland - next to the beach with the red granite hills surrounding us.

Growing up in Shetland I lived near the Giants Grave, two standing stones. They always reminded me of the long history of people in Shetland.
