The colour way and name of this yarn was Kilauea after the volcano in Hawaii created by The Blue Brick.
I wanted to create a design, which looked like pahoehoe lava flowing down the side of the volcano. In Shetland there are many examples of old volcanic activity. I named this shawl after a beautiful place to have a walk but also see ancient examples of lava flows.
It is a lace shawl knitted in stocking stitch from the neck downwards.
The number of pattern repeats can be changed to make the size of the shawl larger or smaller as desired.
It has a wingspan of 160cm/63in and width of 50cm/20in.
UPDATE: This has both written and charted instructions.
