Knitting: Cowl
Siksak means zigzag in Finnish and Danish. It is one of my favourite cowls. The stitch pattern creates a really eye-catching pattern where they appear to zig and zag across the finished material. However, it is deceptively easy; using only knitted and slipped stitches. This makes it a great project for new knitters who a ready for a bit more of...

The top has stocking stitch on the front and garte...

Knitting: Beret, Tam
I designed this beret for one of my running friends, Elaine; she had requested that I make her a red beret. This was at the same time that we were away for a double parkrun over the New Year. We weren’t in Scotland, but someone that she knew seemed to think we were. From then on this particular trip become affectionately known as ‘Elaine’s Scot...

And it knits up really quickly so makes a gre...
Knitting: Cowl
This pattern is named after one of my favourite Queen songs – She Makes Me (Stormtrooper in Stilettoes). The central cable panel is delicate and interesting in the way it ebbs and flows from loops to lines. The delicacy is like the stilettoes, but the lines is reminiscent of row upon row of men.

Knitting: Cowl
This cowl is the chunky version of Doing Alright which I designed on a train journey to London to celebrate my daughter’s 16th birthday as well as finishing her exams and school. I designed this hat following an autumn stroll in the woods near my home. The trees are ancient and seem to interweave with each other in an interesting way.
Knitting: Cowl
This stitch reminds me of taking a stroll in the woods near my home. The trees are ancient and seem to interweave with each other in an interesting way. Sometimes you can see through them, and sometimes they are too densely packed together.

Knitting: Cowl
This cowl was designed after deciding I wanted a lovely thick material for the winter months that didn’t have a wrong side. Sometimes when you are wearing a cowl it flips over and you don’t see the pattern anymore. That won’t happen with this one. It is also a great project for practising your fair isle skills.
Knitting: Beret, Tam
The hat is a beret/tam style; the motif is a cable which looks like a tree and can be worn either to the front or the side. It is designed to be worn big and baggy. It has a small ribbed band which can be made bigger and you could add a pom pom to the top for added detail if preferred.

Knitting: Mid-calf Socks

Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
These socks were designed during a phase when I was obsessed with the Old Shale stitch and how it could be paired with sections of stocking stitch. The lace stitch goes down the back and front of the leg, stops at the heel on the back but carries on to the toe on the front.

Knitting: Baby Blanket
This blanket was designed for my new great-nephew, Arthur, who was born earlier this year. I wanted to use squares of different colours but I didn’t want to end up having to sew them all together. Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This shawl begins with a traditional semi-circle construction, alternating between a solid and variegated colourway. But I wanted to play around a little bit with the shaping and so I introduced short rows. I am really pleased with the way the stripes from the beginning section and the short rows meet.
Knitting: Cowl
This cowl was designed in the same weekend that I ran the Yorkshire Coast 10k race in Scarborough. The weather wasn’t particularly great after a storm had hit overnight and so the sea was quite rough. The view from the top of the cliffs, down over the sea and looking towards the fair made me think of the wavy lines in this pattern.

Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
I designed this shawl with the spring clouds in mind, the way they seem to be almost not there one moment and then thick and fluffy the next. I love the interesting shapes they make in the sky and they way puff and billow across the sun so you can be in dazzling sunlight one moment and in the darkest shade the next.

Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This shawl was designed for my Mum’s 70th birthday present. She lives on the south coast of England on a small island – Hayling Island. She is allergic to some natural fibres and so I decided to use soft acrylic baby yarn for her.

There is a little bit of a story behind the name of this hap shawl.
