Knitting: Cowl, Scarf
September 2024 update! We’ve re-knit this pattern using our 13th anniversary custom Colorburst colorway from Wonderland Yarns, Contentment on the Cannon. The instructions are the same, except that you will use the Colorburst section of the skein for your assigned pooling stitch.
Crochet: Fingerless Gloves
Written for the Minnesota Yarn Shop Hop ’24: Fairy Tales, these crocheted linen stitch mitts are inspired by how Minnesota-based author Trung Le Nguyen intertwines the past, the present, and the fantastical in his novel “The Magic Fish.” An optional tie is woven through at the wrist and tied into a whimsical bow, reflecting the juxtaposition of...

Designed by Rachel Burkell for Northfield Yarn, Minnesota Yarn Shop Hop 2023: Under the Sea.
Knitting: Cowl
Written for the Minnesota Yarn Shop Hop 2023: Under the Sea, this cowl features a bold accent inspired by the narwhal, a.k.a., the unicorn of the sea! Worked mostly flat and laced shut with a matching i-cord, you can change how it fits by leaving the last couple of inches unlaced, or change up the look by lacing with ribbon or leather cord.
Knitting: Cowl
This pattern is worked in the round with only knits and purls to keep track of. It’s grafted together for a seamless look (but could be seamed, if you prefer not to graft it).
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
These fingerless gloves are not difficult to make and they are the perfect accessory to wear when meeting a friend for a nice long walk. The textured pattern shows off our exclusive Nerstrand Big Woods colorway from Knitted Wit nicely, or pick your favorite National Park — Knitted Wit has created a colorway for them all!
Knitting: Cowl
This cowl design, inspired by Hidden Falls in Nerstrand Big Woods State Park, makes the most of one skein of highly variegated DK-weight yarn.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
The Division Street hat is a delightfully scrappy project, perfect for those leftover colorwork skeins!

Yarn: Jamieson & Smith 2-ply Jumper Weight or Jamieson & Smith Shetland Supreme, 1 ball each of Main Color (MC) and three contrast colors (CC1, CC2 & CC3)
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
Hand-dyed skeins of yarn often contain several distinct colors. “Pooling” happens when the same color appears in the same place in several consecutive rows, causing a “pool” or splotch of color — intentionally or unintentionally! In this pattern, we manipulate the properties of hand-dyed yarn to intentionally create a pooled design.
Knitting: Cowl
This simple, double-looped cowl makes the most of a highly variegated yarn, allowing the colors of a special skein to

Knitting: Cowl
This design is inspired by “Mayfield,” by Lisa Richardson in Rowan Magazine No. 64. It has been modified to require less yarn and be worked in the round. We have also provided a chart, which tells you when to change color and makes it easy to keep track of where you are.
Knitting: Beret, Tam
Pure Shetland wool forms a beautiful wheel of color in this design, which is worked in the round and never uses more than two colors per row. The instructions are written out, but the colorwork is provided only in chart form.
Knitting: Cardigan
This sweet little cap-sleeved cardigan was designed for YarnQuest 2018 and inspired by the beautiful custom-dyed color “Poppin’ Maize” from Lavender Lune Yarn Co.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
This simple pattern is satisfying to knit, and the color changes in the yarn keep the project interesting while creating a beautiful result.
Knitting: Scarf
The interplay between two colorways of gradient yarn make this lightweight scarf beautiful and interesting to knit. The pattern is an easily memorized 6-row repeat, and the only stitches required are knits and purls.
Crochet: Scarf
Simplistic peaks and valleys create lacy carved openwork rows, which quickly build into columns of delicately stacked layers in this long rectangular scarf offered in two widths.
Crochet: Cowl
Gracefully simple, crisp ornamental lace made beautifully strong with 100% organic linen, a delicate filigree that will become all the more fluid & supple with every wash & wear.
Knitting: Cowl
This simple lace pattern very effectively shows off the beautiful result when variegated Koigu yarn is held together with Kidsilk Haze. When choosing a color for the mohair, keep in mind that it will act as a wash of color throughout the cowl and blend with the colors in the Koigu.

This pattern uses basic crochet techniques to create a soft, airy infinity scarf that can be worn loose and casual or dressed up with a gather by using the optional cord or ribbon. The size can be easily adjusted with changes to the yardage required.
Knitting: Scarf
This light and airy infinity scarf is worked flat and then seamed (of course a provisional cast-on followed by grafting is an option, but it’s not described in the instructions). The Silky Alpaca Lace gives it a special texture that has to be felt to be fully appreciated. The scarf can be made in a single color from one ball of Silky Alpaca Lac...

Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This pattern involves simple lace and a single cable. Its true beauty is revealed when eight stitches are dropped during the final bind-off. A drapey yarn is recommended.
