A quick and easy cape worked flat with a ribbon woven up the front instead of buttons. One size fits most but there are notes with in the pattern for larger sizing.

This simple raglan top is worked from the top down with a little side shaping and finished with a picot hem. A great intro to top down knitting, this pattern works up quickly. This pattern would be a good 1st sweater for a new knitter.

This tank is made from the bottom up with a minimum of shaping and i-cord straps. A good one for an advanced beginner to try. I grafted the straps to make them seamless though these could be sewn. The armholes are on the deep side making it a good layering piece.

I wrote this for a class we had at the store a few years ago. Although I would rate this for an intermediate knitter it’s a quick knit.

This is an easy capelet that is worked from the top down. One skein (of Cascade Magnum @123yds/250grams) project for the S, M, 2 skeins for the L.

This vest is worn with reverse stockinette stitch on the RS so the collar shows the knit side. For a larger collar and a shorter vest wear with the longer side up. For a smaller collar and longer vest wear the short side up.

This top is made by working 2 flat panels in an openwork pattern then joining to work the bottom section in the round. The openwork section, a wide neck and generous side openings make this a perfect summer “T”. I would rate this for at least an advanced beginner.

This simple top is worked lengthwise, making the cast on edge the length and the rows the width of the garment. A lovely openwork pattern is framed by a Garter Stitch border.

This cardigan is made from the top down. The back is made first, and the fronts are picked up and worked down off of the back. The sleeve stitches are picked up and worked down off of the main body of the sweater. A crochet button and buttonhole are added, though you can use any button or closure style.

Worked from the top down with simple increases, easy color changes and an i-cord for the straps this would be a good top for an advanced beginner to tackle. Sizes: S/M, L.

This shawl is made with Illimani Yarn’s “Amelie” an aran weight yarn that is a beautifully soft blend of alpaca, mulberry silk and merino wool. It is made in one piece from the top down and is rated EASY.

Worked from the top down, the size is generous to fit most (laid flat and measuring the front at the underarm @26” across; measured at the bottom @30” across) with adjustments for petite or extra large sizes noted.

The BagSmith’s Big Stitch Bundle is made up of 6 different yarns (@88yds each) bundled together with most of them being hand dyed together so all 6 yarns match though the Big Stitch Bundle I used for the shoulders, collar & bottom section has the same tone throughout.

Two cables on a background of Reverse Stockinette Stitch grace the front of this simple bottom-up tunic sweater.

This piece is structured using the framework for a classic semicircle shawl that starts at the top with a few stitches and fans out by increasing a set number of times every few rows. 2 pieces are made (front and back) then sewn together, leaving openings for the arms and neck.

This pattern has 2 versions of the same design. The lavish version is a more dramatic sweater with longer, fuller sleeves and a collar that can change from a deep cowl neck to off the shoulder while the moderate is a toned down version you could wear to the office.

This is the crochet version of my Honeycomb Brioche Sweater. The gauge is 5-5.25 single crochet stitches & 5 rows for 4”.

A simple shawl I would rate for at least an advanced beginner.

This is a reversible hat. Double thickness for extra warmth. The loftiness of Misti Alpaca compressed nicely into a worsted; do not use a chunky weight yarn unless you can get gauge.

This oversized sweater is worked from the top down, sleeve edge to sleeve edge in Stockinette and Sand Stitch. Techniques used: invisible (provisional) cast on, short rows, picking up stitches, 3 needle bind off, k2tog, SSK, and working in the round.

This is a reverse stockinette stitch vest with the collar, front facings & armhole finishing worked in garter stitch.

A simple, oversized, drop shoulder, short sleeve pullover made from the bottom up and joined by working a 3 needle bind off on the shoulders and sides.

One size fits most because of how the openwork pattern stretches. I had a trunk show and saw this piece on many body types; it looked great on all of them. The bolero uses one skein of Magnum and #17 & #19 needles, straight or circulars since the piece is worked flat.

This capelet is an addition to the Openwork Bolero Pattern, so 2 patterns are included in this pattern.

Back in December I had a trunk show and was able to see this garment on many body types. And, like the Openwork Bolero it looked great on every one who tried it on. It is a one size fits most although adjustments are easy & noted in the pattern for petite & larger sizes.

This shawl is more a heart-shaped triangle than a typical triangle shape in that the angled sections are longer and more narrow. Because the Pine Cone stitch has a Stockinette stitch “background” the long narrow sections of the shawl will curl a bit (you can see this in the photo of the shawl worn as a scarf).
