I paired a simple seeded ribbing together with a wrapped smocked stitch pattern to create mitts that works well with both variegated and semi-solid yarns. The knit stitch ridges create geometric lines that travel from the edges through a wrapped stitch section, creating visual interest through textural elements. This pattern has a corresponding hat/cowl pattern, Wraps and Ridges Beanie and Cowl, to complete the set.

Needles: US5 (3.75mm) and US 7(4.5mm) DPN’s or circular needle in length necessary for size. Needle size should be adjusted if necessary to achieve gauge.

Yarn: 91(123, 157) yrds 84(113, 144)m DK or light worsted weight

Gauge: Several ways are listed to determine gauge. Pick one or two to determine your gauge.
• approx. 11/16” (1.75cm) on US5 (3.75mm) in Seeded Ridges from middle of ridge to middle of next ridge
• approx. 8 rows = 1” (2.54cm) on US5 (3.75mm) in Seeded Ridges
• approx. 1¼” (3.75cm) on US7(4.5mm) in Diamond Wraps from middle of wrap to middle of next wrap
• 19 sts = 4” (10cm) in stockinette on US7(4.5mm) (not used in pattern, but can be used to estimate)

Sizes: Extra Small(Small/Medium, Medium/Large) with finished circumference of 5(6.25, 7.5)” 12.7(15.9, 19)cm unstretched, to fit hand size up to a circumference of 6.25(7.5, 8.75)” 15.9(19, 22.25)cm with negative ease.

Materials: Cable Needle for Diamond Wraps (optional)
Yarn needle for weaving in ends
Scrap yarn
