I love the first spring walks by the sea, when it’s still too cold for swimming but one can take their shoes off and dip their toes into the cool water. When the sea is calm and the waves flow gently, they create those beautiful lines in the sand underwater. Strie means a thin line or groove on a surface, or a line of a different color than the background. In these socks you can almost hear the hush of the Mediterranean and see the shifting lines in the sand below its clear, tranquil waves.

The socks are knit cuff down. After the twisted ribbing, the delicate twisted-stitch pattern is established. The pattern runs down the heel flap on the back of the heel. The pattern is mirrored for left and right socks.

Quince & co Starling (75 % superwash Merino, 25 % recycled polyamide, 200 m / 50 g).
2 (2, 2) 3 skeins or 210 (280, 355) 425 m / 230 (305, 385) 460 yds of fingering weight yarn.
Shown in color Seafoam.
Please note that any changes made to the leg or foot length will affect the amount of yarn needed.

Gauge
32 sts x 48 rnds = 10 cm /4” with 2.25 mm (US 1) needles in stockinette st after blocking.

Needles
2.25 mm (US 1) – 100 cm / 40” circular needles, or as required to obtain gauge.
