Happy Gift Knitting!

A take on the traditional star motif, the Starflake Beanie features a gathered crown topped off with one last little starflake on the very top.

Starflake Beanie begins at the brim with 2-color ribbing then moves to a stockinette body with periodic garter ridges which are charted alongside the colorwork. This hat features stranded knitting using only two colors per row and fits that middle ground between a beanie and a slightly slouchy hat.

Yardage/weight estimates based on medium size:
MC (navy in sample) - 80yds/39g
CC1 (ribbing - purple) - 10yds/5g
CC2 (peerie - red) - 8yds/4g
CC3 (peerie/crown - blue) - 15yds/7g
CC4 (starflake - white) - 50yds/23g

Notes:

  • Crown decreases are written and charted.
  • Blocking the finished hat will smooth out the gathered crown decreases.
  • It is very important to meet gauge or be able to calculate adjustments which can be made at the crown.
  • Pattern advises slip stitches for lining up garter ridges
