Colorful, patterned ceramic tiles always catch the eye whether found decorating a public square or hiding in a garden. Alone they’re a simple delicate pattern, together they create magical complexities. Translating tile designs into colorwork knitting marries the two art forms and pays tribute to artisans over the centuries.

Knit in the round, Diamantes y Petalos begins with a ribbed brim then transitions to a stranded knitting stockinette body using just two colors per round. The charted motif consists of one main flower motif and multiple smaller diamond motifs. This hat fits snug in the body but has a roomy crown.

“…the pattern was written so well with spacing in between each color change, you didn’t have to worry about trapping your floats and could just focus on the pattern.”
