Sidmouth Cowl
The Sidmouth Cowl was inspired by a gloriously sunny week in the beautiful Devon town of Sidmouth. We walked beneath the orange cliffs and climbed Jacob’s Ladder. At the top we discovered a magical clifftop garden.
This cosy cowl will brighten up any outfit with its pretty scalloped edge, while also keeping you nice and snug. It works up quickly so it’s ideal for a last minute gift!
The Sidmouth Cowl is crocheted in the round with 100g of Aran yarn. It doesn’t have a border and all the colour changes are made by the yarn so there are very few ends to weave in. The stitch pattern uses a combination of double and treble stitches to produce a lovely lacy cowl to brighten up your day. You will also be working some of the stitches in the back loop for added texture.
My original Sidmouth Cowl was made with King Cole Crescendo Aran, 1x100g ball in colourway Tempo, using a 5.5mm hook. Circumference 56cm, height 26cm.
The second version was made with Yarnsmiths Pebble Haze Aran, approx. 100g in colourway Pepperholme, using a 5.5mm hook. Circumference 60cm, height 23cm.
You could also try using an alternative variegated Aran yarn for your own unique version of the Sidmouth Cowl.
