The Quietude Cowl is a sister pattern to the Quietude Shawl and uses the same pretty lace stitch.

Inspired by the quiet stillness of nature, the lace pattern has a single bead crowning each lace motif, like little flowers lining a woodland path. Or you can make the cowl without the beads if you prefer.

Knitted in the round for a seamless finish, this accessory is as pretty as it is cozy and is the perfect accessory to take you through the changing seasons.

This cowl uses 1.75oz / 50g or 218yds / 200m of yarn so if you have knitted the Quietude shawl and started a 100g / 400m skein for the border then this project is ideal for using up the rest of your yarn.

Video tutorials are linked for all of the stitches used, including how to add the beads with a crochet hook.

Pattern Testimonials

“I really enjoyed knitting this pattern. It is fun, kept me interested and the results are lovely! It is so fun to add the beads and see the lace pattern grow as you knit. It is a fast knit and really looks special when finished” - Christine

“Another excellent pattern by Jemma Arrowsmith. I love knitting lace, but have been frightened of adding beads to my knitting. This pattern was perfect for that first step in beadwork” - Lila

“I love the pattern, it’s a simple knit with enough going on to keep you interested, and the cowl is a nice size for smartening up a coat and keeping your neck warm at the same time” - Margaret

“I had been following “Under the Olive Tree” and love many of the designs. Having just knit the Quietude Cowl, I found this pattern well written and the finished results very rewarding. I look forward to doing more of their patterns in the future” - Pat

“I am not experienced at using a circular needle so this is a lovely project to practice on, simple. The finished cowl is a gorgeous accessory” - Audrey
