Moowick
After learning how to knit the Auld Shell and then New Shell patterns this would be the next pattern which people would be taught to knit, the cockleshell pattern.
This is quite a jump in complexity as the cockleshell itself has a 13/15 together which can be difficult to achieve without practice. In this version of the cockleshell pattern the top of the cockleshell is a knit 9 together. The instructions of an easy way to do this is included in the pattern. This method can also be used for a 13/15 together in a traditional cockleshell pattern.
This rectangle scarf is knitted in two parts and is joined in the middle by a garter graft, the instructions of how to do this are included.
