Welcome to the land of making hats in 10 sizes. We’re all mad here! Thankfully, this pattern has all the math and sizing done so you don’t spiral into madness as you crochet these spiraling stripes!

The pattern is quite simple once you begin. Mad as a Hatter is worked in a seamless, two-color spiral, in either 1 strand of dk or two strands of fingering weight yarn for maximum stash-busting potential!

Choosing the Best Size
Choose a size that is 3-5” (7.5-12.5 cm) smaller than the intended wearer’s head circumference for a fitted beanie on ages 8+ or 1-3” (2.5-7.5 cm) smaller for a looser fit, or on younger children to allow for growth.

Preemies and newborns should have hats made almost to their exact head measurement as they grow very quickly.
