I Am Dragon
Inspiration
This design was inspired by my love for mythology, J.R.R.Tolkien books, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings films and, of course, Game of Thrones. So, if you have similar interests - this project is for you!
A few words about the painting that I use as an icon for this design - all I was able to find out about it that it’s Saint Margaret by unknown artist (ca. 1450). It reflects perfectly the mood of this MKAL and I am simply obsessed with it!
Shape
It is a triangular shape design. I think “Scarf Necklace” is the best way to describe this piece. This is one skein project, but trust me - it’s not going to be a boring one! Keep in mind that blocking plays a big role, so your piece will get into its final shape only after the blocking.
Yarn
I am very lucky to collaborate for this project with Ancient Arts Fibers and if you never had a chance to work with their yarn - you’ll love it! I chose 2 colorways for 2 different project - one with beads and one without. You will need 1 full skein, between 400 - 437 yards, per project. My color choice was inspired by the painting, but Ancient Arts has an amazing color palette, so Get in Touch with Your Inner Dragon and make your own choice.
Ancient Arts Fibre Crafts
Option I
Scarf Necklace: Black Cherry
Option II
Scarf Necklace: w/beads: Aztec Gold
Needles
I used US2.5/3mm & US1/2.25mm ChiaoGoo Twist 32”(82cm) circular needles. Stitches should be firm, not loose. Adjust needle size if needed.
Notions
I recommend to get a row counter, 14 stitch markers, a tapestry needle and a sew-on magnetic snap size 5/8”(14mm), 30 g of Miyuki glass beads size 6/0, bead needle
Skill Level
The skill level is Intermediate. You should be comfortable with st increases and decreases and yarn overs.
