Front Row Center
Worked in a lightweight, silk yarn from top down with seamless, simultaneous set-in sleeves (photo tutorial included!), this lightweight A-line tunic is perfect for wearing with leggings to ease you into cooler weather.
Front Row Center uses the same lace stitch pattern as Bringing Sexy Back, but doesn’t merely move the lace to the front. Unlike BSB, this garment is designed to be worn with 1-3” of positive ease at the bust, and 4-6” of positive ease at the low hip (or your widest point since it covers your butt) while still fitting you in the shoulders.
This is a tunic, so don’t even think about negative ease at the hips/butt if that’s your widest point--you want to give the A-Line shape of the tunic enough room to fall right over your bum and not ride up.
The Rustic Silk yarn I used for the design is listed at a fingerweight but it truly behaves more like a sportweight or light DK yarn that drapes beautifully at the pattern’s gauge. Several test knitters used wool and MCN blends to a terrific effect. Want longer sleeves? Piece of cake! Just work the sleeves as directed, but instead of switching to ribbing after a few rounds, keep working in stst to the elbows, do a handful of decreases at the beg and end of the rnd every 5 rnds or so, and switch to ribbing when you want.
Materials:
3(3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 4) skeins Dragonfly Fibers Dance Rustic Silk (450 yds/115 g), or approximately
900(1000, 1110, 1230, 1355, 1450, 1580, 1700) yards of sportweight or heavy fingering weight yarn.
