Worked mostly in the round, Michelle My Belle is a cozy pullover worthy of chilly days in the office or cuddling on the couch. The bodice is worked from the bottom up, and features a modern split hem. Mini faux cables accent the front, and well-placed increases and decreases give it a slight high-low shape that is fashion-forward without looking like it’s riding up. The folded neckline is deeper than a traditional turtleneck giving you a shallow cowl to keep you warm and comfortable.

Stitches for the sleeves are picked up around the armscye, and short rows are used to form a wide sleeve cap before working seamlessly in the round to the cuff. The instructions also include directions for a Super Deluxe Method of working the final wrapped stitch when returning to working the sleeves in the round. This method minimizes the gap that often results from working that last wrapped stitch from the in-the-round direction.

Sizing is flexible! This sweater is designed as an oversized garment and there is no waist or hip shaping. It is intended to be worn with anywhere from 4-7” of positive ease (i.e. 4-7” bigger than your measured bust size). Because the sizing is so flexible, only 4 sizes are offered. Choose a size that is at least 3” bigger than your bust. For example, if your bust measures to 44”, make size 49”. If you measure to 47”, make size 52”. Note that the model measures to a 33” bust, but is wearing size 40”.

Materials:
Sizes 40(44, 49, 52)“ require 3(4, 4, 5) skeins of Miss Babs Yowza, or approximately 1450 (1650, 1975, 2340) yards DK/light worsted weight yarn.

This design is named for a woman who inspires me: Michelle Obama. Her grace and message of kindness and “going high” are something I continue to strive toward, and so it is with great pleasure that I release the pattern on her birthday, January 17th.
