This shawl / scarf is full of texture and colour. I used a soft and cosy yarn from Katia in two colours of a teal and pale grey. You can use any chunky/bulky yarn you like.

It is knitted back and forth on circular needles (I have used this type of needles because of the width). The larger size needles for this yarn give the shawl a looser feel.

It is easy pattern to follow as you only need to know a combination of basic stitches, cast/bind on and off, knit and purl.

If you haven’t done these stitches before, it is a great fun way to learn new stitches and at the same time create this lovely shawl.

This shawl can be worn two ways over the shoulders or wrapped around with the ‘V’ at the front as a scarf.

This item knits up quickly, so you won’t need to wait long too before you can enjoy wearing it or being able to give it as a gift.

This pattern is written in full, easy to follow instructions, in English with both British and American terms throughout.

Materials

• 3 x 100g / 3oz ball of Katia, Alaska (chunky).
Colour : 36 (teal)
• 2 x 100g / 3oz ball of Katia, Alaska (chunky).
Colour : 9 (pale grey)
(most chunky / bulky yarns should work for this pattern – please read the tension / gauge section below).

• 10mm / 15 US / 000 UK circular needles (80cm / 31in length). Knitted flat, back and forth. I used circular needles to help hold the width of the piece.

• A tapestry needle to weave in loose ends.
