Diwali
Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights. It symbolizes the spiritual “victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.” During the festival, the celebrants illuminate their homes, temples, and workspaces with diyas (oil lamps), candles, and lanterns. Often, the festivities are marked by fireworks, lots of confectionery, and decorations with flowers. The most remarkable image many of us might know is a river full of unlit floating lights during this festival by night. I tried to capture the colors, flames, flowers, and, above all, in this new crochet pattern.
Some general information:
Yarn Requirements: This pattern is made with an ombre type of yarn. For this version, I took one Cotton Kings Twirl deluxe cake in color number 14. The cake contains 250 grams of yarn and has a length of 1000 meters. You will use approximately 950 meters of yarn.
Crochet hook needed: I recommend a 3.0mm hook.
Size: The diameter of the outcome will be 85 cm/ 34 inches.
For this pattern, there is NO chart or video available due to the complexity of the pattern.
Although this pattern isn’t complicated to stitch knowledge, you must read a written pattern well. There is a lot of text to read – and with it, it is essential to know written patterns to crochet the right stitches in the right places. A photo is attached to see how the result might look after the Round at each Round. This might give a good view of what is meant in the written parts.
After purchase, you can download a PDF file of the pattern in English (US) and Dutch.
When downloading files, you can choose between a complete pattern with text and photos or a print-friendly version with only text.
04/09/24—On this date, a small typo was found in the English version of the pattern. In Round 22, a 1sc in the next st was missing on the second line between the ch3-sl next st-ch3. After this date, the digital pattern was uploaded; however, printed booklets will still need this correction as they were already in production when this typo was discovered.
06/11/24 - a typo was detected in the Dutch version. R45 had a pc-1l-pc, which had to be pc-2l-pc. The typo in the digital pattern will be fixed after this date.
