Knitting: Collar
The Lucian Collar is a decorative, sculptural knit. The base circumference is cast on and the collar worked from base to neckline in the round. A web-like form with draping strands of stockinette stitch is achieved through sequences of bound off and cast on stitches.

The stranded portion is meant to mimic accumulating snow on a winter beach; the shifting sand shaping the snow into scalloped peaks and valleys. The embroidered straight vertical lines reference rivulets, sketching lines in the sand as the waves come ashore.
