6pm Cowl
The 6pm Cowl is knit in the round from bottom to top.
Four colors alternate in a textural variety using knit
and purl stitches. These lines of texture form a strong
linear component. Once completed, the orderly
repetition of horizontal lines is condensed through
strategically placed embroidered stitches. These
stitches create a random visual element which gives
the illusion of increased complexity. Created with
simplicity in mind, this cowl is great for playing with
colors and utilizing smaller quantities of yarn.
The 6pm Cowl was inspired by striations and the way
in which clouds interact with a sky ablaze with color as
the sun sets. Light and dark values mix with intense
and dull hues in extraordinary ways. Pattern names in
the Sunset Collection refer to times throughout the
year when the sun sets on the coast of Maine.
