The nautical part of the pattern was inspired by Knitting Stitches Encyclopedia by Elena Petrova.

Looks like entrelac BUT it’s not. Can also be done in a sport-weight on a size 4 US with a change in the number of rows. (2 less) 200g of soft smooth worsted wool would suffice. I also knitted it up in SMC Northern Wool with Tweeds. I found that 200g was enough in many of the colors and types of yarn I knitted my Samples in.
