Inspired by worked antler fragments, Ythan is a snug unisex hat worked in a rustic aran-weight yarn.

Twisted stitches carve their way to the shaped crown while the central motif consists of travelling stitches reminiscent of Mesolithic carved artefacts.

Ythan is suitable for a knitter with a little experience. The pattern contains full written instructions with cable charts.

Choose the size closest to your head circumference - due to the nature of the fabric, Ythan has a snug fit.

The Ythan hat is part of the Doggerland: Knits from a Lost Landscape e-book collection.

Doggerland consists of 8 patterns and is a collection of accessories inspired by a submerged landscape between Scandinavia and the UK. The collection uses motifs commonly found on artefacts from the Middle Stone Age and seeks to take you on a journey through landscapes of your own.
