Ronaes
The Ronaes shawl is inspired by marine archaeological finds at the Ronaes Skov settlement in eastern Denmark. The site bears evidence of systematic fishing - and I was inspired to use a geometric motif reminiscent of both fish scales and primitive fykes.
The shawl is knitted lengthwise in garter stitch and is shaped with easy short rows. The elaborate edging is knitted on sideways. The yarn used is an organic heavy laceweight with a beautiful handle.
The pattern contains written instructions whilst the lace edging is both charted and written out.
Ronaes is part of the Doggerland: Knits from a Lost Landscape collection.
Doggerland consists of 8 patterns and is a collection of accessories inspired by a submerged landscape between Scandinavia and the UK. The collection uses motifs commonly found on artefacts from the Middle Stone Age and seeks to take you on a journey through landscapes of your own.
