The Wings of Fire shawlette is a one skein wonder, specially created for Wollmeise Pure. You can of course use any other yarn like Socks That Rock, Lorna’s Laces, Austermann Handpainted, and all of the beautiful indie dyer skeins that are dyed in dip dye fashion. However you will then need more than one skein.

Although this pattern is created for fingering yarn, you can knit it with any other weight as well. Keep in mind that your yardage will vary.

It is a modular knit, but all pieces will be joined as you go, so no seaming is involved. You will find ample photo tutorials with technical advice, including a photo tutorial on how to knit backwards, which comes in handy with every project that includes very short rows or entrelac. Personally I even use it whenever I work stockinette in flat pieces to avoid purling.

Wings of Fire is a no-brainer. Seriously this is the perfect project for travelling, knitting while watching the more intricate movies or whenever you are with others and want to avoid mistakes, which can easily occur with patterns that require a lot of attention. If you read all the instructions you won’t have to follow the pattern anymore after knitting the first two modules, which you will find in written and charted instructions.

The result is a shawlette with two different effects. One side underlines the horizontal display of the colors, while the other side promotes the vertical direction. It can be draped in various ways and it is fun experimenting with the options.

Happy knitting
