Venus in Silks
Venus in Silks is a story-telling creation. There is an idea, or maybe we can call it a motif, and the shawl is exploring the development of this motif. While writing this story, I felt like it was rather writing itself. On each shifting points the options were clear to me- and the decision of which direction to follow was one of the most creative and enjoyable processes I have ever participated in.
Therefore, this is not a pattern that repeats itself, every row is different- perhaps carrying the same motifs as before, but with a new angle.
A story.
I preferred to go with the flow of the story rather than strictly follow the designing rules. This might present a challenge for some knitters, but I am hoping that most creative people have an understanding of this approach.
Now let’s talk business: This is a Brioche Cable shawl, knitted flat from the top down, combining tuck stitch and syncopation. It might be a little bit too much for the Brioche knitting beginner, therefore it is advised for the more experienced-challenge-loving Brioche knitters.
I have worked this shawl in lace weight, but is’s also possible to work with fingering weight yarn if you want a larger shawl. You can see the results of some of this project’s testers linked to this pattern to get a better idea.
