Vanilla Spice Socks
Vanilla Spice was inspired by vintage stockings with the stunning french seam down the back. Something simple, but with a little pop of sass. You don’t need to know how to cable to make these socks - the seam is created using a faux cable technique - if you can knit, you can do it! The faux cable travels all the way down the back of the leg until right before the heel turn.
This sock would make a great first sock for those ready to take the plunge into sock knitting! If you can work in the round, knit, purl, increase, decrease, and pick up stitches, you can do this!
The pattern is worked cuff down, with a heel flap and gusset.
This pattern contains three sizes. Finished socks will fit most teen - adult feet. Leg length and foot length are completely customizable.
If you’re interested in increasing the width of the calf, I have a few suggestions:
- Use a stretchy cast on like the Twisted German CO
- Increase your needle size to a 2.5mm/2.75mm or higher for the leg of your sock, and/or:
- Knit the size up from your foot measurement, and evenly decrease by 2 stitches every second row as you approach your ankle. Repeat until you get to the stitch count that works best for your foot size.
- If you would like additional help with sizing, please message me. I am always available for pattern support!
