This is a top-down crescent-shaped shawl with radiating cables that start tightly twisted and then unravel as they get to the border. The final unravelling of the strands of the cable is achieved with simple dropped stitches. Knitting in lambswool spun in Scotland which softens significantly when washed.

Yarn used: 3(4) x 50g hanks of Kinross 4ply
Needles used: 4mm circular long enough to accomodate a large number of stitches.
Notions: Cable needle, 8 stitch markers, crochet hook for cast off (optional).

There are two sizes that you can make, 60” and 64” span, and it is also easy to extend the pattern if you wish by working more rows before the border.The smaller size uses 3 hanks of Kinross, the larger size takes 4. At a tighter tension the larger size will only require 3 hanks.

The dropped stitches are dropped during the cast off, and chains must be made to cover the gap. This can be done with a crochet hook or with the knitting needles, depending on your preference.
