Trunk Adventure Polygon
This is one shape option within the Adventure Knitting 2: The Mysterious Trunk ebook - the polygon shape is meant to make a large shawl/wrap. There are 24 different stitch patterns, which can all be mixed and matched with each other throughout the three sections of knitting.
Adventure Knitting 2: The Mysterious Trunk is written sort of as a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure-style pattern collection, with all items and stitch patterns, etc, as choices you can make; the choices can be randomized with fortune telling elements. So the polygon shape pattern is a choice which you’ll follow within each of the sections. It is not a separate pattern within the ebook.
All Adventure Knitting 2 shape patterns (rectangle, triangle, strip/loop, bent strip, crescent, and polygon) are for any weight yarn, custom sized, your choice of one or more colors.
How much yarn you’ll need will depend on your yarn weight and desired size - usually, 2 skeins should be enough, but you may want some extra yarn for contrasting color(s), or more if you want an extra large item.
All shapes/items are worked flat, using increases and decreases for shaping; the different stitch patterns you can pick may involve twisted stitches, lace, textures, slip-stitch designs, optional simple colorwork - they range in difficulty level, and since there are 24 to choose from, you can easily skip any that don’t appeal to you. All 24 stitch patterns are both written and charted.
The pdf includes a complete ebook, with the Mysterious Trunk story, plus a DIY foldable, bindable, covered print book, and four different printable fortune telling items (a symbol-filled board, a customizable fortune teller, a deck of divination cards, and a numerology sheet)!
The pdf is organized to prevent unnecessary printing of extra pages, large photos, etc - print only the pages you need, as explained on the cover page. You can print the whole pattern collection and extra information (including book making tutorials, sample photos, and extra notes) on 21 printer pages (14 of those pages will fold into the 112 page book), plus whichever fortune telling items you want to print out. The ebook is the first 49 pages of the pdf (which includes 7 pages of detailed sample pieces notes/photos).
Here is a fun little video to accompany the Mysterious Trunk story.
There is also a print book of Adventure Knitting 2 for sale over on MagCloud here, or maybe at your local yarn shop!
Notes about materials and skills (for all Adventure Knit items)
-
all items/shapes can be made in any weight yarn
-
yardage needed will depend on your yarn weight, item choice, and desired size - most items will need 2-3 skeins of yarn
-
for most items, your yarn’s recommended needle size/gauge should be good, but if you’re making an item that you want to be extra loose/drapey, use a needle a couple sizes larger than the recommended size all shapes/items are knit flat, using increases/decreases for shaping
-
some items/shapes are more complex than others, and same with the stitch patterns, so difficulty ranges adventurous beginner to experienced intermediate
