Pattern Description from Knitted Lace of Estonia: “This scarf pattern was inspired by an article written in the #148 issue, Kevad (Spring) 1990 of Triinu magazine. According to the article translated by Helle-Mall, ‘The original shawl came as a present from Estonia. Although we had a few members in our crafts group who had knitted many shawls, nobody had seen this pattern before. So, we gave the shawl to Helle-Mall Risti who worked out the pattern and put it on paper so that it could be easily followed. At the next teaching workshop, most chose to use this pattern. The results were very interesting as the size of the shawl depended on the wool used. Also wool in different colors was used including the traditional while. The exhibition in September 1989 was very impressive with so many fine shawls hanging on the stands.”
