TOPAKI VEST
Topkapi Palace, the sultans’ palace of the Ottoman empire, slumbers beside the Bosphorus in testement of the wealth and power of a distant age. Topkapi Palace is literally tiled in intricate blue İznik porcelain fashioned in a myriad of combined patterns.
It is this spirit of blue that inspires the Tokapi Vest. The subtle play of blue and green is designed to evoke the delicate interlacing tiles for a light summery mood.
The upper yoke worked on larger needles in drop and garter stitches add textural interest like the colorful borders on these tiled walls.
Changing the colors changes the mood. The blue combination creates a relaxed vest perfect for wearing over jeans but consider other colors, too, perhaps warmer hues to conjure the pattern play in a Turkish carpet. Commune with your stash or go forth and compose another yarnscape with something special in mind.
The vest is worked in an allover lace pattern with a textured yoke in thicker yarns. Three buttons make the closure. Sized fro small to amply large.
