Tarbat
This hat features an all-over cable pattern inspired by the key patterns (angular spirals) commonly found in Pictish art.
The brim of the hat can be worked either as single-thickness, or as a folded double-thickness, as pictured (provisionally cast-on and then later knitted together). The double-thickness brim provides extra warmth and a visually-pleasing edge.
Using the gauge and yarn listed, the finished hat will be Adult M size (to fit head circumference of 20–22˝/(51–56 cm). A larger or smaller hat can be made by altering gauge and yarn weight. The pattern provides a table of gauges and yarn weights, along with finished measurements, ranging from 4-ply/fingering to Aran/heavy worsted, for a range of sizes from XS to L. (You will need to swatch carefully to obtain the indicated gauge for your chosen size).
