Sunflower on a Grid
Sunflower on a Grid was inspired by a motif on bark-cloth from Oceania. Its unusual proportions are charming.
When you sew this flower onto something, the background shows through the open grid.
This project shows the Sunflower on a Grid, appliqued to a cardigan. Then the fabric of the cardigan is cut out from behind the flower’s grid. Now you can see through to the sweater underneath the cardigan.
I have also sewed buttons to the grid for a great effect.
