Summer Soundtrack is the sport/dk-weight version of my original Soundtrack top! Due to the thinner yarn, it has a lighter feel and drape - perfect for warmer weather or if you just prefer a lighter Soundtrack layer. Especially knit up in Dirty Water Dyework’s beautiful Lucia DK yarn!

Just like the original, it’s an easy-to-make layering top featuring 2 contrasting colors worked in a simple & fun slip stitch pattern. Like a catchy background melody, Soundtrack’s stitch pattern is a bit addictive - you’ll have a hard time putting it down! Plus I’ve added even more videos on the Soundtrack Tips page (links in pattern) so you’ll have tutorials of every step along the way.

PATTERN INFORMATION:

Sizes: 1 (2, 3, 4) (5, 6, 7)

Finished Bust Measurement: 38 (43.25, 48.5 , 54) (59.25, 63.25, 68.75)”/97 (110, 123, 137) (150, 161, 175) cm 

Picking a Size: Choose a size that is approx 6-10”/15-26 cm larger than your actual chest measurement (or less if you prefer a more fitted look). Sample is shown in size 2 (43.25”/110 cm), being worn with approx 10”/26 cm of positive ease at the bust. 

Gauge:
In the rnd: 24 sts & 46 rnds = 4”/10 cm in Slip Stitch Patt in the rnd after blocking. 

Flat: 24 sts & 42 rnds = 4”/10 cm in Slip Stitch Patt flat after blocking. 

Note: when swatching, focus on matching the “in the rnd” gauge since that is the gauge for the body. Also, getting stitch gauge is more important than row gauge (you can adjust length as needed in the pattern). 

Yarn: Sport or DK-weight yarn, shown in Lucia DK by Dirty Water Dyeworks (75% Superwash Merino, 25% Nylon; 100g = 246 yds), broken out as follows: 

Color A - color dominant on the bottom:

• 500 (575, 670, 760) (875, 960, 1070) yds.
• 3 (3, 3, 4) (4, 4, 5) skeins, shown in Seafoam. 

Color B - color dominant on the top:

• 425 (500, 575, 650) (750, 830, 920) yds.
• 2 (3, 3, 3) (4, 4, 4) skeins, shown in Juniper.

Needles & Other Supplies:

• US 5/3.75 mm 32”/80 cm circ needle, or size needed to obtain gauge.
• For Neck & Armhole Ribbing: US 4/3.5 mm 16”/40 cm circ needle, or 1 needle size smaller than that used to obtain gauge.
• For Three Needle Bind-Off: Extra US 5/3.75 mm circ (any length), or same size used to obtain gauge.
• Stitch markers.
• Tapestry needle.
• Scrap yarn. 

Construction:

• Top is knit from the bottom up, in one piece.

• Front and back are separated at the underarms and each side is worked back and forth as you work the yoke and shape the shoulders.

• Shoulders are seamed together using the Three Needle Bind-Off technique.

• Finally, stitches are picked up around the neckline and each armhole and worked in rib stitch to create ribbing trim.
