“Sommacco” is a loose fitting, comfortable cardigan knit top-down in one piece.
The shawl collar is knit in two symmetrical halfs and decorated by a lace stitch. The saddle shoulders are joined to the collar.
Afterwards, the neckline stitches, the saddle stitches and the back neck stitches are picked up on a single needle and the work continues top-down, as the sleeves and yoke are shaped.
The saddle shoulder is an original touch that adds a sophisticated look; it is decorated with a lace motif that continues down the arm.
The body is shaped using short rows so that the back is slightly longer than the front.
All borders are in twisted rib stitch.

BROOKLYN TWEED Loft (100% American wool, 251 m – 275 yd / 50 gr – 1.76 oz. skein): 7 (7, 7, 8, 8, 9, 9, 10, 10, 11, 11, 12) skeins (1564, 1680, 1758, 1875, 1953, 2071, 2188, 2344, 2461, 2539, 2696, 2774 m – 1710, 1837, 1922, 2050, 2135, 2264, 2392, 2563, 2691, 2776, 2948, 3033 yd).
Circular needles:
3 mm – US 2 ½ with a 100 cm – 40 inches cable (you may need a second circular needle of the same size to facilitate knitting the start of the yoke).
If necessary, please adjust needle size to obtain the specified gauge.
Other:
Tapestry needle.
12 stitch markers.
Waste yarn.
Optional:
Row counter to keep track of rows (or rounds) of the cable stitches
Paper and pencil to help keep track of the lace stitches.

Gauge:
22 sts and 32 rows = 10 cm – 4” in st st (after blocking).

“Sommacco” è un cardigan dalla linea comoda e confortevole lavorato dall’alto verso il basso in un unico pezzo.
Il collo sciallato è lavorato con un motivo a pizzo in due metà simmetriche, a cui vengono aggiunte le spalline.
In un secondo momento le maglie del collo, quelle delle spalline e quelle del dietro sono riprese su un unico ferro e il lavoro prosegue dall’alto verso il basso, modellando le maniche e lo sprone.
La spalla a martello rende il cardigan originale ma allo stesso tempo raffinato ed è decorato con un motivo a pizzo che prosegue su tutto il braccio.
Il corpo è modellato con dei ferri accorciati per rendere il dietro leggermente più lungo del davanti.
Tutti i bordi sono a coste ritorte.
