Casual oversized sweater with drop saddle shoulders. Worked seamlessly from the top down. First, the saddle shoulders are knitted separately. Next, the back shoulders and back neck are shaped with short rows and the back armholes are knitted down to the specified length. Then, the front shoulders and front neck of the left and right parts are shaped with short rows. After that the front parts are joined and the front armholes are knitted down to the specified length. Next, the back and the front are joined to work the body in the round down to the desired length. Then, the finishing is applied to the neck. Finally, the sleeve stitches are picked up to work the sleeves in the rounds with decreases down to the desired length.
SIZES
Sizes: XS (S, M, L, XL, 2XL) to fit bust circumference 76-80 (84-88, 92-96, 100-104, 108-112, 116-120) cm/ 30-32 (33-35, 36-38, 39-41, 42-44, 45-47)”.
Finished bust circumference: 105 (113, 120, 127, 135, 142) cm/ 41 (44.5, 47, 50, 53, 56)”.
Choose the size that gives you 25 - 30 cm / 10 - 11.75” of positive ease at bust. With the size increase the amount of ease is gradually decreases.
YARN
Sample is shown in Sandnes Garn DUO (55% merino wool, 45% cotton, 115 m (126 yds) / 50 g (1.76 oz)), 500 (550, 550, 600, 600, 650) g. Or any similar yarn approx. 1145 (1205, 1265, 1325, 1385, 1445) m / 1252 (1318, 1383, 1449, 1515, 1580) yds.
GAUGE
22 sts х 32 rows = 10х10 cm / 4x4” square in stockinette stitch on main needles after blocking.
NEEDLES
Main circular needles 3.5 mm (US 4), 30 cm (12”) and 80 cm (32”) for the body and sleeves.
Corresponding circular needles size 3.0 mm (US 2½), 30 cm (12”), 40 cm (16”) and 80 cm (32”) for the neckline, sleeves and body ribbing.
Or any size of the main circular needle to obtain gauge. Corresponding circular needle size is smaller than main.
NOTIONS
2 stitch markers, waste yarn or stitch holder, tapestry needle, blocking tools.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Long tail cast on, knit/purl, left and right leaning increases/decreases, circular knitting, german short rows, cable cast on, picking up stitches, binding off.
