Slip Ups
These handsome mitts in three sizes (S/M/L) feature a vertical slip-stitch pattern that mixes two highly contrasting yarns nicely. This is a great way to use yarns of differing characteristics as well, such as a springy, wooly type with a slippery, shiny type to make a suitably sturdy fabric. This version pairs a highly variegated hand-dyed yarn with a solid, natural shade but a more subtle fabric can be achieved with two solids that are closer in tone. The fitted thumb gusset is worked with a playful variation on the main pattern.
Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size, drape, and yardage requirement.
Mitts are shown in size M, knit in Bare Naked Wools Stone Soup Fingering yarn, color River Rock and Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock, color Sweet Potato Pone (hand-dyed exclusively for the 2018 Pairings Club)
