This sweeping, wedge-shaped shawl has it all—delicious garter stitch texture, interesting linework, beautiful drape, and frothy (but simple) openwork that glows with light. Worked in addictive short-row repeats that recreate the pattern of waves lapping on sand, this is a soothing project that makes a perfect summer travel companion. Use one solid or natural heathered yarn and one gradient colorway to achieve an effect similar to the sample pictured here or mix a variegated yarn with a solid for an overall pattern.

Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size, drape, and yardage requirement.

Shawl is shown knit in Bare Naked Wools Jacob Fingering yarn, color medium gray and Apple Tree Knits Plush Fingering, color Perfect Picnic Sky (hand-dyed exclusively for the 2018 Pairings Club)
