This pattern is for any weight yarn! This any-gauge hoodie scarflet combo, with button closure that holds it on when the hood is down, can be made with any yarn/needle combo! Just plug your gauge into the formulas and you’re good to go. Make yourself a styling Skoodlet in different yarns for different looks, all with the same pattern!

This is a great pattern for handspun or hand-dyed yarn, and will show off self-striping colors well.

The Skoodlet is a fantastic winter accessory with a coat, acting as both a scarf and a hat when needed, tucking into the coat to keep out the wind, buttoning around your neck, and the hood can come up and down as needed.

If you make the hood a bit extra big (notes are in the pattern), it can easily fit over a hat or earmuffs, for extra warmth when you need it! And for days that aren’t so cold, but are rainy, you can skip the coat, wear it as a scarflet, and have the hood there whenever you need to pull it up!

The examples that you see here are knit with super bulky (green - two strands of Malabrigo chunky held together) and size 19 needles, with bulky (grey Lamb’s Pride) and size 10 1/2 needles, and with recycled worsted hand-dyed self-striping shetland and size 9 needles.

You need any yarn, matching needles, and a gauge swatch to customize the pattern for your yarn (somewhere between 150-600 yards depending on weight)

Needles: a 24” or longer circular appropriately sized for your yarn

Extras: 4 different stitch markers, 2 or more buttons

Size: adult medium is default, but there are notes throughout the pattern for resizing it bigger or smaller

Skills needed: figure-8 style provisional cast-on, knitting on, vertical seaming, short rows, k2tog and ssk decreases, make 1 increase, and some very basic math
