Silver Glen
Silver Glen is a very pretty glen in the Ochils near Tillicoultry. The walls of the glen are covered in mosses and vines, like the trailing leaves in the edging of this shawl. Years ago silver and tin were both mined in these hills.
This shawl uses one hank of Kinross Lace. Sample shown in Pewter, this used about 75g in total.
Needles and notions - 4mm needle, a long circular is recommended to hold the large number of stitches towards the end of the shawl.
8 stitch markers
Darning needle to weave in ends.
Size - Approx 1.6m length and 42cm depth after blocking.
This crescent shawl is knitted top down with a garter tap start. The lace edging is easy to memorise as all the stitches line up. The edging can be extended if you want to make the shawl deeper.
The pattern has full written instructions and the lace edging is also charted if you prefer.
