Silver Birch / Brighton Lace Doily or Place Mat
From the Chapter Description: When I hear the word doilies, I think of my grandmother and all the beautiful starched lace doilies in her home. Sadly, not many homes today use doilies, and I fear that many of the wonderful patterns will become extinct. The following patterns are not my original designs, but I want to include them to make sure the patterns are not lost.
From the Stitch Description: This pattern was sent to me from Brighton, England. The pattern was called “Viennese Lace Luncheon Set,” dated 1932. This piece can be used as a doily, a place mat, or a table runner. My sincere thanks to Nancy Henderson for translating the pattern into U.S. knitting language.
