Shadow Print Socks
A simple sock with bright colourwork, the Shadow Print Sock is the perfect winter gift.

Named after a printing effect that produces a lighter double, or shadow, of the original text or image, the Shadow Print Socks are cosy and bright, the perfect pop of dopamine to add to any outfit. They can be customised with any recipient in mind: whilst the pattern is written for three colours, the two contrast colours could be combined into one, or many shades could be used for both contrast colours, depending on your recipient’s style and your stash.

The socks are knit top down, in the round and include a fun new heel. The scallop stripes are worked with slipped stitches and you’ll only ever be working with one colour per round. It has a a short, easy to memorise repeated pattern and is a great opportunity to use up scraps in your stash.

The “deep shadow” heel was developed specifically for this pattern and is based on Alice Yu’s shadow wrap sock heels. It combines a deeper than usual short row heel with traditional gusset shaping, for a comfortable fit around the heel and instep. The beginner friendly heel is easy to work with minimal counting and the accompanying video tutorial will walk you through each step.
