Sedge Stitch Stocking
This stocking was made for Darice.
Yarn: You will need two different colored (worsted weight) yarns: A color of your choosing for the main part of the stocking, and a contrasting color (white) for the toe, heel, and cuff.
Stitches Used: The main part of the stocking is made using the sedge stitch; The toe, heel, and cuff are made up of double crochet and single crochet stitches.
Construction: The stocking is worked in one piece from the toe up, ending with a fold-over cuff. Most of it is worked in the round, with the exception of the heel, which is worked in rows.
Extra Help with the Heel: The heel is crocheted in the same manner as this designer’s Advent Calendar Stockings (but with different stitch counts). If you are struggling with the heel portion of this pattern, you may find this video helpful. Note that the video is specific to the Advent Calendar Stockings pattern; Because the heel of the Sedge Stitch Stocking is constructed in a similar way, you may find value in this video as a visual guide to the heel making process.
