Ribbon Mitts
I know many people who are suffering with various health issues that need to know how others are supporting them, including my own husband who has (so far) beaten esophageal cancer and beloved friends and family that are fighting cancer.
Here’s a great pattern for fingerless mitts/gloves that will show off your cause. Use beads or colorwork in your choice of color on the mitt’s ribbon. You can make the mitts a lighter or darker shade of the ribbon color or use, for example, red ribbon on black or white mitt.
You can also leave off the ribbon and make great, easy to knit, mitts for any occasion, or just use the color of the cause to make a statement of support. Included in the pattern is a list of ribbon causes and the associated color for you to use.
The yarn is dk weight (even though Cascade labels their 220 Superwash Sport as sport, it knits to a dk gauge and we sell it in our shop as dk! - love the yarn, though!). You will need 276 glass beads (without beaded cross on thumbs) or 342 glass beads (with beaded cross on thumbs)/ size 6/0 or 8/0 glass beads (shown are Miyuki #395). You can choose to add beads or knit the ribbon/cross in a contrasting color of your choice. There is an included chart for a Christian cross to add to the thumb gusset, if you’d like to add it.
The mitts are simple and quick and priced so everyone can afford the pattern. To those who need healing, I wish you the best.
