Rejuvenation
This is a bonus pattern included in the Making Recycled Yarns ebook because it’s a great fit for recycled yarns of any weight/type, a very versatile any-gauge hat. Size it to your head as you knit - no gauge swatch needed!
It can be made with stripes, or with multi-colored yarns, in the body or the brim; it can be made with the brim in a contrasting solid color. The brim uses approximately 18-20% of the total yardage.
It can be worn with the brim up or down, for different looks.
Both samples were made in recycled yarns:
- The sample with the white body was knit in a recycled wool/cashmere blend yarn, held triple stranded for a bulky weight (approx 60 yards / 55 meters). The brim is in short lengths of multi-colored bulky recycled yarns, 2-row stripes, colors switching at every wrong side row beginning, ends joined by spit splicing.
- The red & yellow sample is in an aran weight spun & plied wool blend yarn (a DK weight yellow wool plied with a fingering weight red angora/wool blend); it used approx 109 yards / 100 meters total and has an extra large circumference for a looser fit than normal. (Only about 1 inch was subtracted for the circumference negative ease, instead of the 4 inches that the pattern recommends.)
You can get this pattern by buying the Making Recycled Yarns ebook, or with the full Remixed collection, which includes 8 other any-gauge accessory patterns. Either way, you’ll get this pattern in a separate pdf for easy accessibility (in addition to inside the ebook).
(If you just like the top-down any-gauge construction of this hat, it’s the same as my free Scant hat pattern.)
