This charming scarf features wrapped cluster puff stitches set against a background of marled seed stitch. In the pattern, the puffs are arranged to form diagonal accent stripes, but they can easily be rearranged into an all-over pattern, horizontal stripes, or any motif that the knitter desires. The MC and CC yarns are held together for the seed stitch portions of the scarf, then the CC yarn is dropped and the MC yarn is used by itself to work the wrapped stitches. The similar hues of the MC and CC create a soft, subtle contrast between the puff stitches and the textured background, but it would be very simple to achieve a bolder look by using colors that contrast more strongly. The scarf is completely reversible, so it looks great from every angle. The selvedges are worked as twisted slip-stitches for neat edges. After knitting, the MC yarn is held double to work a decorative twisted fringe along the cast-on and bind-off edges.
