Amber Waves Scarf
This cozy, colorblocked scarf is a completely reversible accessory that is fun and meditative to knit. The scarf is worked in bias garter stitch to create alternating zigzags that resemble interlocking mountain peaks. The zigzag stitch pattern does not require any complicated techniques to achieve its striking look, just the use of simple short rows, increases, and decreases. The pattern is worked with 2 strands of bulky-weight yarn held together throughout, but 1 strand of super-bulky yarn held by itself could easily be substituted. The design is also extremely versatile and easy to customize based on the colors that the knitter chooses to use. The pattern will work with virtually any yarn, especially gradient and ombré yarns, since bias garter stitch is a perfect canvas to display color variations to their greatest possible effect.
For a bulkier version of this design worked with US size 15 (10.0 mm) needles, check out the Mountain Majesties Scarf.
