Potholder With Angled Stripes
Pictured here is a red and white version of this pattern, which resembles a candy cane for Christmas. I’ve also successfully crocheted this design in other colors. When other colors are used, the finished potholders can take on a fun, retro sort of look.
This pattern is crocheted using the tapestry crochet technique. If you need to brush up on your tapestry crochet, I have a free tutorial available to help you out.
That said, if you’ve never tried this technique before, my advice would be to start with a simpler pattern than this one for your first tapestry crochet project; this is a rather challenging pattern. I recommend trying a checkerboard first -- this checkerboard is a good one to start out with, because it is more easily predictable than the angled stripes are.
If you’ve already successfully completed at least one tapestry crochet project, I think you’ll do fine with this design.
